First of all, one needs to understand what the word sovereign means.
Sovereign is a British gold coin whose historical value was the pound sterling.
And the name of the coin is derived from the portrait of the reigning king that appears on the bearing side of the coin.

The first sovereign gold coin was first issued in 1489 by King Henry VII, so it was decided to determine the value of the basic British currency called the pound, or as it is better known to us today, the pound sterling to the new coin on which the king appeared. Hence the name was given to the sovereign coin (Sovereign meaning ruler).

On the surface of the coin in all the sovereigns appears a figure dressed as a knight killing a dragon, this figure is attributed to King George mounted on a dragon-killing horse in which the Scottish Thistle appears to mark the 13th Commonwealth Games.

But the story of the famous King George begins on one of his journeys in the land of Libya when he arrives in a paralyzed and frightened city.
A cruel dragon settled in a nearby cave, and every day the inhabitants had to sacrifice an innocent girl to quench his anger and prevent him from venting his anger on the townspeople.

The inhabitants begged him to save them because only the king’s daughter remained they had to sacrifice tomorrow.

George was crowned a saint years after his death, after countless stories and legends were tied in his name, in various and odd versions, about his heroism in front of the dragon.
